Forensic Services Team (FST)

The CPU has been in the forefront of ensuring that all serious crimes committed against children are now investigated with the use of crime scene investigators. In previous years the lack of training, resources and equipment resulted in few crimes against children being provided with this specialist service.

The CPU realises the importance of ‘best evidence’ and the safe and secure collection of that evidence. Presenting the most credible and reliable evidence to a court not only assists the prosecution case in ensuring a safe conviction but removes the reliance and dependence placed on the evidence of the child.
